What to Expect
Chichen Itza is the ancient city of the Itzae Maya. As you visit its impressive pyramids, plazas and temples you'll begin to understand the power of this sacred site.
A delicious buffet lunch will be served at the famous Mayaland Hotel, where you can also take a refreshing dip in any of the swimming pools, stroll through the tropical gardens or simply relax in the cool breeze.
In the evening, visit the Sound and Light Show staged nightly in the archaeological site. The play of light on the ancient buildings and tales of warlike rulers, priests and Mayan gods will weave their spell and you'll leave Chichen Itza enchanted. Then relax in the beautiful Mayaland Hotel, walk the paths in the middle of the jungle with awesome vegetation or take a refreshing swim.
After breakfast (included) you will be transferred to the Balankanche Caves, located 6 km from Chichen Itza. These caves were an important ceremonial site for the Maya.
A sound and light show that relates the history of these caverns has been incorporated into the caves. 200 meters from the entrance is the Balam Throne, a type of altar where it is believed the Mayans celebrated some type of ceremony. After return to the hotel you can enjoy exploring on your own at the archaeological site of Chichen Itza, relax by the pool, or take a horseback riding tour.
