Mérida National parks

The first stop is the archaeological zone of Chichén Itzá where you will enter the great Mayan city and the first thing you will see is “El Castillo” which was built to honor the God Kukulcán. The visit time is 2 hours, in the company of a certified guide, explore the beautiful buildings of this Mayan city. We visited the most important buildings of Chichén Itzá such as the Castle, the Platform of Venus, the Tzompantli, the Mayan ball game, the snail observatory, among others. Afterwards, you have 30 minutes in which you can choose between free time or visiting the sacred cenote (here the group is divided into 2 according to preferences). The total stay in Chichén Itzá is 2 and a half hours. Then, immerse yourself in the sacred world offered by the Ik Kil cenote, a window to the past where you will find the perfect balance of harmony and adventure. Ik-Kil, in Mayan “The Place of the Winds”, is a park surrounded by exotic plants and large old trees. In the center of the park you can find the Ik Kil Cenote, a reflection of the natural wealth of Yucatan and which was an adornment of ancient cultures. Animals dating back centuries have been found there, proving that this cenote is a place of sacrifice and legends. You have 1 hour and a half to be in the cenote and change clothes. Enjoy a delicious buffet meal at the Yax-beh restaurant, with a drink included (vegetarian options available). Finally, we took a guided tour of the magical town of Izamal, known as the city of three cultures, as it combines the pre-Hispanic and colonial history of the state while reflecting contemporary life. As you walk through its streets, you will notice a very curious detail: all the houses are painted yellow and white. This tour lasts 12 hours (7am to 7pm) and is conducted in both languages (Spanish and English).

We will leave the city of Mérida for the Ria Celestun Biosphere Reserve, a multicolored paradise just 95 km away, west of the state capital. Upon arriving at the fishing community of Celestun, we will board a boat to take a tour of the estuary. The Ria Celestun Reserve, with an area of 60,000 ha, is the favorite place for thousands of flamingos to feed and rest. Inside the mangrove, we will visit an area with dead trees, known as the "petrified forest", and a fresh water spring. We will continue to the Celestún village to eat and enjoy the beautiful beach.

We arrive at the Celestún Biosphere Reserve, an ecotourism park in the state of Yucatan where we board a boat for a 2-hour tour of the mangroves, which includes visiting: 1. First, Bird Island, which is a resting area for a wide variety of local and migratory birds. 2. The junction of the sea and the estuary. 3. The pink flamingo sighting area. 4. We cross a mangrove tunnel. 5. Visit to a spring. 6. Mayan clay bath. 7. Visit to the Herradura ruins. Afterwards we went to enjoy the beach, we arrived at Aunt Candi's La Ramada restaurant which is located in front of the beach where you can use the sun loungers, bathrooms and showers, here the food is included, you will have free time to swim and explore the surroundings before starting the return to Mérida. In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel/coffee shop, and we will go to Uxmal, there you will learn about this Majestic Mayan city while you enjoy, take photos, and explore. Then we will visit Kabah. While Kabah’s archaeological zone isn’t as grand or extensive as Uxmal's, it has a few unique features that make it well worth visiting. Kabah is particularly important because it is considered the last great Mayan city. On our last stop, we will go to the Peba cenote, where you will enjoy, swim, and relax in this small cenote with crystal waters. Upon returning we will take you to Santa Lucia's Park, one of the city's most iconic and central places where you can find restaurants, bars, and shops or we can drop you off at the same spot we pick you up.

Be amazed by the first stop at the archaeological zone of Uxmal through a guided tour that will help us discover the secrets of this wonderful place. We will walk through structures that highlight the Puuc style of the area, as well as containing mysteries and legends. Later we visited the archaeological zone of Kabah, known as the second largest religious center of the Puuc style. Declared a State Park since 1993. The oldest reference to this settlement is the one that appears in the Chilam Balam of Chumayel. The name of Kabah comes from the Yucatec Mayan kab, hand and ah, which refers to the pronoun he. He translated it as "The lord of the strong and powerful hand." The last stop is the Choco Story, where the history of the ancient cacao is recovered: from its origin, distribution and uses around the world, to showing its ancient Mayan preparation methods, all in the company of a guide through various Mayan cabins distributed throughout the park. In addition to the tour of the museum, you can visit the botanical gardens with cacao trees, a meliponary, enjoy a live traditional Mayan ceremony lasting 15 minutes and complement it with a tour of the animal shelter, where you can admire endemic fauna that has been rescued (monkeys, deer, jaguars, crocodiles and birds). It ends with a visit to the museum store where you can buy organic chocolate, books and souvenirs. The tour lasts 10 hours (8am to 6pm) and is conducted in both languages (Spanish and English).

Start the tour by meeting on Plaza Grande, the heart of the city of Mérida. Enjoy a small-group tour of no more than ten people with an expert local guide. We move to the town of Homún. The first cenote is called Pool Uinic and is a cave type with crystal clear waters and not very crowded, you have one hour to enter and swim. The next stop is 2 cenotes are located in the Santa Rosa park, one open type called Yum Kimil and another cave type with the same name of Santa Rosa, here you have 2 hours to swim and visit the site. Later we move to the last cenote called San Antonio which is a cave type, quiet and not very crowded, here you have 1 hour to swim. We finish the tour with lunch at the same place in San Antonio, which has a great variety of delicious dishes to choose from a la carte. Here the place has bathrooms and showers to change clothes.
