Quito: Street Food Essentials

1. Quito: Street Food Essentials

After years of research we’ve carefully selected the best street food stands in Quito in the most unexpected and hole in the wall locations. This tour prizes taste over aesthetic or price and is sure to make you craving the recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation. You’ll try exotic fruits and juices, seafood delicacies and the best local bites, made with fresh ingredients. We will finish the journey with a top chocolate, coffee and cocktail tasting. In addition to getting a real taste of Quito, you will explore the city’s back streets, downtown’s flea market and cool off beaten path architecture, street art and more. We will wander through the parts of Quito that are home to the locals that dwell here and we will eat the food that natives have been enjoying for decades. By the time the tour is finished, you will understand the magic that makes our town one of the tastiest cities in Latin America, while feeling the impact that street food has on how we have built our culture.

We like taking a food tour on the first day when visiting a country. We find it is a great way to get acquainted with the culture of the place. This tour was just what we like. Our guide, Santi, was great. He took us to many different places introducing us to the Equatorian food scene. We sampled a number of dishes, fruits and juices. Santi took us to places we wouldn’t have gone to if by ourselves, holes in the wall full of local people. Most of the time we were the only tourists around. Everything was delicious and the tour was well structured with walks and a stop at an art community giving us time between venues to digest the previous meal. We highly recommend.

Superb tour, one of my favourite things I did in Ecuador and I did it my first day so it gave me a great base for understanding food/culture as I moved through the country. Santi was a wonderful guide, lots of cultural and historical info as well as food stuff. There is SO MUCH food on this tour, don’t eat breakfast before you go! I would 100% recommend this to anyone in Quito.

Santiago was a wonderful guide. The tour was great, taking us places that we would not have found on our own. We had plenty of delicious food to eat along with a variety of juices. The last stop was great: a local artists' center where we had a chocolate tasting with some local craft beer. Highly recommended!

Could not have been a better introduction to the city of quito. Passionate guide Santi took us to places we would have never found by ourselves. Authentic local experience supporting local restaurant owner, with nice facts about the city and art as well. Greatful for this wonderful experience. Thanks Santi!

Thanks Santiago and Bondabu Team! Truly enjoyed the Fritada, Empanada, Viche, fruits, chocolates, and coffee. This tour is the perfect introduction to Ecuador’s diverse food and arts that highlight local producers, markets, and artists.
