Mountain Train Experience: Hike & Mystic Forest (From Nice)
A unique Train Experience through the Alps to discover a historic trainline that crosses the Alps from the Côte d'Azur, a technical feat of French civil engineering (beginning of the 20th century). The perfect opportunity to visit 2 amazing villages shaped by a unique history. Let's start the day early in the morning (meeting at 7.30 am) to fully enjoy this special day. 2 hours of unique experience commented on board by our local expert guide through one of the most incredible train lines in France. The 1st stop is labelled as "One of the nicest in France" with a surprising Royal City-Citadel, its medieval drawbridge perched above the river, its majestic citadel overlooking the Valley and its flamboyant baroque cathedral. Many gems to discover and fabulous landscapes from the top. A medieval city of Exception with its ridge that forms a natural rock barrier determining its history as a French historical fortress (150 meters (450 feets) of uphill - only with good physical conditions) For lunch, we will offer you a meal in a local restaurant. The 2nd step is about a beautiful medieval village (partially troglodyte) & the most surprising hike in the Southern Alps (option highly recommended) with giant sandstone blocks creating a "meteor shower" effect and rock shelters. Get into a unique geological site, the "King's Room". Be surprised by forests of multi-centuries years old chestnut trees and, in a short length, a succession of surprising and different landscapes. Depending on the physical condition of the group: shorter hike (4km) or longer loop (8km) (or rest in the village for the most lazy ones, pétanque game possible). A haven of peace just a few steps from the French Riviera. You will enjoy the clean, fresh and invigorating air of the Alps, during this mystic forest discovery. An unforgettable day, a treat for the eyes... Attention, sportive day, good physical condition strongly recommended! ⚠️ Long day From 7.30am until 9pm - Possibility of returning by train at 4pm (without the guide) (Visiting only 1 village) ⚠️
