Begin your tour in the heart of the city and stroll along the Yarra River learning about the history of Melbourne's sporting culture, its teams and world class venues. Within 200m of the city centre enter the sporting precinct, home to Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Park, site of the Australian Open tennis grand slam, hearing about Australia's rich tennis heritage, as well as training centres and arenas of top flight teams across soccer, rugby league, rugby union and Australian Rules football. Melbourne hosted the 1956 Olympics, the first city in the Southern Hemisphere, and its indelible print still resonates to this day in what is known as the Olympic Park precinct.
