Full description
Leave Melbourne bright and early after pickup at your accommodation and travel through the state to the town of Beaufort. Enjoy a local morning tea before continuing across the state to the agricultural heart of Victoria, the Wimmera Mallee region, home to the Silo Art Trail. Beginning in Rupanyup, see Russian street artist Julia Volchkova's mural depicting two local sporting team members, which captures the spirit of the town's youth and their love of team sport. Move on to Sheep Hill where self-taught Melbourne street artist Adnate uses his work to tell stories about indigenous people and their native lands. His portraits highlight the strong ancestral connection the area's young indigenous people share with their elders. In Brim, marvel at the only solar illuminated silo on the trail by Australian artist Guido van Helten. It depicts four generations of local farmers and illustrates the resilience and strength of the farming community. Then, take a break in Warracknabeal for lunch at the local hotels and enjoy the experience of this small country town. Continue to Roseberry where internationally renowned Melbourne street artist Kaff-eine focuses on themes that embody the region's past, present, and future. Her mural portrays the tough and tender moments that local farmers experience in the region. Next, head to Lascelles where Melbourne-based artist Rone depicts a local farming couple that have lived in the area for four generations and captures the essence of the town and its people. Finish the silo tour in Patchewollock. Here, admire the work of Brisbane artist Fintan Magee, described as an “Australian Banksy,” who immersed himself in the community to produce his mural. A local farmer who had that “classic farmer look” was the inspiration for this artwork exemplifying the no-nonsense, hardworking spirit of the region and its people. Finally, leave the Wimera Malle region behind and enjoy the countryside views on the way back to Melbourne.
