The complex consists of the Medici Chapels of the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the Mausoleum of the Princes and the New Sacristy by Michelangelo, funeral chapel of the Medici family.  Entering the museum, you will visit first the crypt, where some of the grand dukes of Tuscany and their wives are buried, as well as the less illustrious members of the Medici family. There were many masterpieces of art, by those such as Ghirlandaio, Della Robbia, Perugino, Raphael, Michelangelo, Sansovino, as well as works of gold and miniati.  See Michelangelo's famous statues, Day and Night, and Dawn and Dusk depictions. You will also visit San Lorenzo Church, the parish church of the Medici Family. It was rebuilt by Filippo Brunelleschi and decorated by Donatello.

What a great exhibition of the art of the Florentine mosaic - the individual cutting of the marble to make intricate images, and displayed in a grand fashion.
