We got to the train station pretty easily and waited on everyone to get there, went down and got in the train, did a transfer and voila! We were at the metrocable station. The metrocable was super cool and the views were awesome. The guide was sure to give us a lot of time to take picture (a recurring theme). Then we took a bus to comuna 13 and yea we had to walk up a good bit but it wasn't horrifying. They also seemed to be aware it was a ways up because there were built in stopping points on the tour right around the time it felt like you couldn't go any further.lol. The graffiti was super cool and so were the stories behind them. The transformation of the area is spectacular and the guide made sure to let us know that not long ago tourists would've had something bad happen. Honestly, while there is graffiti and the story of it was told well. I'd say the tour is more of a good excuse to take the metrocable and see the top of comuna 13. In fact it was better that way for me.

Arturo, our guide, was great -- a font of knowledge about the fascinating turn-around for this formerly dangerous neighborhood. It was actually a very emotional experience. Seeing the very welcoming people living there doing what they can to turn their lives and their fortunes around was truly touching. I would recommend this tour as the number one thing to do in Medellin.

This is a must do while in Medellín. This was the best tour in my two weeks in Colombia. It was a perfect way to visit Communa 13 and have an immersive experience. Not only did we tour the area, we stopped at amazing shops, galleries, and restaurants along the way. As a solo traveler, I’m always looking for safe opportunities to learn about the history of an area and meet fellow travelers. Sebastian was an amazing guide and made this a worthwhile experience.
