Take a guided walk in the nature reserve of Ile aux Aigrettes, home to the giant tortoise, Telfair’s skink, and the famous pink pigeon. Head to the Blue Bay Marine National Park and experience its colorful underwater life on a glass bottom boat ride.
What to Expect
From Pointe Jerome, in the south-east of Mauritius, you’ll board a ferry for the ride to Ile Aux Aigrettes, a nature reserve under the management of the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation.
On this 4-hour excursion, you’ll see the island’s original coastal forest where the dodo and many other species unique to Mauritius roamed freely hundreds of years ago. Today, the giant tortoise, Telfair’s skink, and the famed pink pigeon call the island home. Enjoy a 90-minute guided walk in the park.
Just a few minutes away is the Marine National Park at Blue Bay. Board a glass bottom boat and discover the splendid underwater life, with a variety of colorful corals and fish. With luck, you might even see a graceful turtle passing under the boat.
Part of the revenue from this tour goes to the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation for the restoration program on Ile aux Aigrettes.
