Full description
Kayak through Maui's blue ocean to embark on a whale watching adventure. This tour provides a perspective like no other. Gliding along the water, you will be eye-level with the ocean and can see the marine wildlife up-close and personal. After checking in, your expert guide will provide hands on instruction on how to manage your kayak, from landing, launching, paddling and how to get in and out for the snorkeling component. This tour features "sit on top" kayaks which makes for easy-on/easy-off access. Your guide will launch each kayak, setting you out into the great blue sea. As a group on the water, your guide will brief you about whats planned and where you will visit. To begin your adventure, you will paddle out to search for whales (whales are seasonal here and populations vary yearly). Along the way, your local guide will share island stories, information, folklore, and more. When the whales appear, you will have the opportunity to paddle along at a safe distance. Your guide will be well versed in "whale", and can explain and share each behavior that the whales are presenting. These whales migrate back to the Maui Channel each year to mate, give birth, and nurture their calves.  After whale watching, your group will paddle back to the shoreline along the reef to enjoy some snorkeling. The reef system in Hawaii is amazing, and will provide you with the opportunity to see many unique and fun things. The highlight for most is Hawaii's "Hono" or Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle. They are abundant in this area, making it one of the best spots in Hawaii to see them. Upon the end of the trip, your guide will re-huddle just off the beach, calling each kayak back in to land individually.

John was our guide - his passion for his work is clearly evident and he took us to some of the best snorkeling locations we've been to. We were also fortunate to come across a pod of playful dolphins toward the end of our tour. What a pleasure to interact with all of these beautiful creatures. Highly recommend this tour, especially with John.

Our guide, John, was charismatic and knowledgeable. The kayaking was a blast and we got to kayak alongside dolphins! The snorkeling was also excellent, we saw a wide variety of fish and our guide found a huge sea turtle for us to see! Was overall an excellent tour and was the perfect amount of time. Would definitely recommend it and do it again ourselves next time we’re in Maui. Just FYI the whales are only around Jan-March.

I know we were pretty much out of whale season, but I wish the tour had been labeled differently so I didn't end up disappointed. We saw a turtle from far away and a few fish, but that was it. Of course, this was no fault of our guide, Jake, who was wonderful! He was really helpful and explained everything about kayaking properly, getting off, and getting on to the point I felt really confident and safe. He was also really knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the area. If anything was worth the price, it was his guiding!
