Full description

Start your journey with hotel pickup and hit the road to Hana as you head towards the Ulupalakua Ranch. Explore one of Maui’s oldest ranches with its beautiful rolling pastures and green forestry. Then, head for the scenic backside of the island around Kaupo.

Enter the Kipahulu District and the edge of the rainforest. Charles Linberg’s loved the area so much that he requested to be buried here after he died. See his grave at the 19th-century Palapalahoomau Church, before witnessing the spectacular Wailua waterfall. Enjoy a picnic lunch before heading to Koki Beach. Relax surrounded by breathtaking white sand, and turquoise-colored water, with the rainforest stopping right at the shoreline. Walk along the edge of the bay, sit under a tree, or maybe even go for a swim.

Travel to the traditional villages of Wailua and Keanae. Learn about their hunting and cooking customs, and pause for a bite to eat and drink at the famous Half Way to Hana Snack stand. Feast on fresh coconut, cold drinks, and original fresh-baked banana bread.

Close by, you'll visit the Waikamoi Stream and the Hamakua Ditch. Now you'll make your final run of the Island visiting its beautiful rainforests and Hookipa Beach. The largest area of rainforest in the state of Hawaii is along the Hana Hwy. Moving past Haiku the last stop of the day will be at Hookipa Beach. Our guide Kaipo was the best. He says he’s 1 of 2 natives working as tour guides for this company, and we feel really lucky to have had him. The rich historical knowledge and the authentic perspective that he brings to the tour are what made it so great. He shared with us some of his traditional family fishing spots and he knows literally everyone we came across on the island. He makes the trip relaxing and so fun!

We had the privilege of getting Kaili as our tour guide. He hands down made our trip amazing! We’re so glad we did this on our first day because he helped shaped the rest of our vacation. He gave us his own guide to Maui with tons of food recommendations that never disappointed and great spots to checkout all over the island. As for the tour itself, we hit all of the major spots and we are so glad we had an experienced driver taking us through the road to Hana! Thank you Kaili for the great experience!

It was a great trip! We got to see so much and our guide, Del, was awesome. He definitely made the trip so much better. If you get motion sickness easily, be prepared. The roads can make you nauseous. But in the end, it's worth it. You'll see so many great places. My personal favorite being the Black Sand Beach. Great views, great sand, being in the water is also fun. I definitely recommend doing a tour rather than driving it yourself. It's a much better experience.
