Full description

This excursion to the Rocky Churches Park is a beautiful experience. During this tour, you will discover the history of this magical place. On Murgia Timone you will see the first human settlement and traces of an ancient Neolithic village. Moving on, you will see two important rocky churches, as well as the Rocky Crypt of San Falcione and the Rocky Church of Madonna delle Tre Porte, with its Byzantine frescos. You will also head to a scenic point, called Golgota, where Mel Gibson filmed “The Passion of the Christ”. During the excursion, you will enjoy the unique spectacle of the City of Stones as it lights up at sunset.

Very interesting tour and engaging and knowledgeable guide. The only thing to note is that the name of the tour "tour of the rock churches" is not true because we have only seen one and from the outside. The title and description of the tour were not entirely realistic. We saw more ... beautiful but more

Abbiamo scelto l'escursione delle 18, quindi sul finire abbiamo visto anche il tramonto sui sassi di Matera, una cosa splendida. Molto bello il giro, con scorci panoramici, chiese rupestri (da fuori, ma si sapeva che non erano aperte) e ricco di informazioni di geologia, archeologica, storia, botanica e curiosità (ottimo Francesco, la guida). Comodo il trasferimento in navetta dal centro di Matera. Consigliatissimo!
