Sam, the guide, was very funny, very knowledgeable. It's amazing how the movie set is kept in such good condition. There were multiple opportunities to take photos and videos and insert yourself into the Hobbiton lifestyle. Would highly recommend.

Journey through the town and into the rolling farmlands of the area before arriving at Hobbiton Movie Set for your guided tour. Immerse yourself in the Hobbiton Movie Set, in the heart of the Waikato region. Seize the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see the only set that remains intact from the movie trilogies. Wander the rambling paths of The Shire and admire the Hobbit Holes in the rolling hillsides. Follow your guide around the set and allow them to show you the most famous locations and explain how the movie magic was made. Walk around the 12-acre set, past Hobbit Hole and the Mill. Then, step into the world-famous Green Dragon Inn. Sample an exclusive drink to conclude your own Middle-earth adventure before returning on your bus transfer back to Matamata.

The whole experience was well organised The bus driver gave lots of information about the area on the short drive to the location with some short videos to watch. On the set there was plenty of time to stop and take photos of this Amazing place. The tour guide pointed out lots of memorable points in the movie. We even witnessed a surprise proposal in front of the famous Green door which the guide gladly recorded for the happy couple. There was time inside one of the fully furnished hobbit houses. Truly Amazing. Then finishing for a real beer at The Green Dragon Pub. Every little Hobbit house is different and surrounded by beautiful little gardens. This is definitely a must do when visiting New Zealand.
