The tour is terrific. We saw everything we hoped to see and it was a lovely day. The guide was knowledgeable until he veered of a bit on “editorializing “. At a stop, one of my guests asked him if he was aware of Martha’s Vineyards role in the Underground Railroad. He said he was but didn’t bring it up due to time. Then he said, “madam, this is not the African American tour. “. Wow. Unnecessarily aggressive to an 85 year old woman. I reminded him African American history IS American history, to which he replied we should have booked a 4 hour tour. I hate to ding the tour company for having a driver go off the rails, but his behavior can’t be ignored. It added a lot of tension to what otherwise would have been a lovely day.

Excellent tour. Ken was very knowledgeable and interesting. He had many anecdotes and stories on the history and development of the communities. The van was very modern and comfortable and the sound system was perfect; we could hear everything very clearly.

My wife and I thought about buying an all day bus pass and seeing Marthas Vineyard on our own--sooo glad we didn't. Rich was both knowledgeable and funny. We saw the entire island and learned about its culture and famous inhabitants. A tour is definitely the way to go.
