Explore Provence on a full-day tour of Marseille, Aix-en-Provence, and Cassis, and discover narrow medieval streets, beautiful vineyards, and more. Start with a city tour of Marseille, and end with spectacular views from the fishing port of Cassis.
What to Expect
Immerse yourself in the beautiful landscape and bucolic towns and cities of Provence on a full-day sightseeing tour from Marseille.
You will start with the highlights of the city center. Go to the Abbey Saint-Victor, a late Roman monastic complex named after the local soldier, saint, and martyr, Victor of Marseilles. See his sarcophagus in the 5th-century crypt, then continue to the imposing Notre Dame de la Garde, located on a prominent hilltop position overlooking the Provencal capital.
Journey down the narrow streets of the historic Panier district to see traditional boutiques, bars, and restaurants. Continue to the Old Port and the vast Byzantine cathedral of La Major. End the Marseille section of your tour at the 17th-century Fort Saint-Jean, now linked to the dynamic new J4 building and the MuCEM, a cultural center that explores the civilizations of the Mediterranean.
Continue to Aix-en-Provence for a guided tour of the city center. Wander paved streets full of history, such as the Cours Mirabeau, lined with plane trees. Marvel at the cloisters of the Cathedral, and come across picturesque fountains and open-air markets.
Then, relax at leisure in the charming fishing port of Cassis, and take a 45-minute mini cruise to explore the sheltered inlets known as “calanques.” Famed for its wines, there will be the chance to taste some of the local produce of Cassis at an AOC-classified winery before your return to Marseille.
