On this ride, we will take you to our favorite spots in the Agafay desert and around. Cruise through the unreal landscape of the Agafay stone desert outside Marrakech with its Berber villages and gorgeous oases. Discover the local life of Tamesloht and it's craftmen, and wrap things up with a delicious lunch in a luxurious camp in the middle of the stone desert facing the Atlas mountains. Riding south west from Marrakech, you’ll reach Tameslohte, located just 20 kilometers away. Cushioned between snow-capped mountains, the earthy tones of the desert and the occasional swathe fertile greenery, this village is, despite its relatively humble appearance, steeped in historic and spiritual significance, with no fewer than sixteen mausoleums providing the final resting place for sixteen different saints, as well as evidence of an ancient and vital irrigation system. These historical insights sit side-by-side with contemporary street art, the fruits of a recently conceived street arts festival. A traditional pottery factory or an olive press are available for your visit, you can also try your hand at making a pottery or let yourself be tempted by tasting a freshly pressed local olive oil. After leaving Tameslohte, continue your ride into the Agafay Desert, which holds the promise of adventure in its lunar landscape. With the Atlas Mountains looming in the distance, the rocky, yellow brown terrain has only occasional patches of green and, with the help of the knowledge of your Insider, you’ll detect clues in the landscape that tell the tale of the age-old need for water and. If rain has recently fallen, you may even spot a turtle, trying to disguise itself as a stone. End your desert adventure with a lavish lunch in a luxury tented camp, which offers a setting both serene and majestic, before journeying back to Marrakech in time for the late afternoon.
