Full description
Drive into the heart of the Sahara Desert on a safari that takes in the historic souks and Kasbahs of Aït Benhaddou, Tourirt, and Amerhidil in Skoura. Ride camels over the windswept dunes of Erg Chebbi, sleep in authentic nomad tents, and drive over the dramatic and twisting Tizi n’ Tichka Pass across the High Atlas Mountains. Day 1: Depart Marrakech and drive through the High Atlas Mountains, via the twisting Tizi n’ Tichka mountain pass to Ouarzazate. Vsit the exotic Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, then continue to Ouarzazate center, where you can tour the Atlas Studios, the largest movie studio in Africa. Enjoy lunch at the Kasbah of Tourirt, former residence of the Glaoui Dynasty. Continue to Rose Valley and the Kasbah of Amerhidil in Skoura, situated by the Amerhidil River and one of the largest in Morocco. Overnight in the Dades Valley. Day 2: After breakfast, depart for the Dadès Gorges and stop to enjoy the spectacular scenery while sipping on mint tea, also known as “Berber Whiskey.” Continue to Tinghir via Boulman Dadès, and see beautiful palm trees and lush landscapes. The journey then moves on the Todra Gorges for a leisurely lunch. After lunch, drive to Merzouga to trek by camel across the wind-blown Erg Chebbi dunes, a classic Saharan Desert of all the picture books. Spend the evening in a bivouac (camp) with a typical Moroccan dinner. Sleep in a traditional nomadic camel hair tent. Day 3: Wake up to a spectacular desert sunrise during breakfast. Bivouac trekkers will return by camel and continue to the small town of Rissani, where you will visit the Ksours and Kasbahs of Tafilalt, stopping at the Tafilalt Palm Grove en route. Go to the zaouia of Moulay Ali Sherif (mausoleum of the dynasty’s founder) on local market day in Rissani to see traditional souks. Next, drive to Ouarzazate via Alnfe, Tazarine, Drâa Valley, and Agdz, visiting the Tamnougalt Kasbah. Overnight in a Kasbah Riad, where you will have the opportunity to visit the Kasbah of Tourirt. Day 4: Following breakfast, continue your return journey to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass over the High Atlas Mountains, stopping en route for lunch.

More than 5 stars. We had a wonderful time in a small group. Our guide Mohamed was very knowledgeable about history and the culture and today's way of living of the Sahara people. We have been offered to do another day of hiking in the dunes and to visit a Nomad family instead of driving back to Marrakech in two days with a stop over in Ouarzazate. So we did a 5-hours hiking tour with our guide Omar and two camels. Although Omar does not speak English very well, we had a wonderful time with him. Also, lunch and tea with Ahmed's family was very interesting, since we got to know a tiny bit about the simple way of nomad living. We were very lucky, because our group was a maximum of 6 people. I think, if you are in a larger group, the experience will be different. If you are very conscious about animal welfare, perhaps you will not like the camel track. The camels are treated very well and looked healthy, but of course the treatment of animals is different from that in Europe, for

We spent 4 beautiful days among the many Atlas, desert plains and stupendous dunes. Our very kind guide Moha and the driver Hassan picked us up at the Riad in Marrakech on time, as Ali from Camel Safaries Morocco had advised us. We were a small group of 5 tourists. Our guide Moha made our trip very interesting because he was very prepared as well as being a kind and nice person. He went out of his way to make the trip better. We have seen beautiful places. We traveled well in a well maintained and comfortable Van. Driver Hassan drove pleasantly. The night in the desert was lovely. The children of the camp played and sang involving us. The third day we had to leave our travel companions because they were returning to Marrakech so we continued on an SUV and a new driver but Moha accompanied us making us visit new places and off the super tourist tours. He was great. Thank you

Abdelhadi, our guide, picked us up right at time. We were 5 people in the back of the van, so we had more than enough space. Abdelhadi speaks English and German very well. He knows a lot About the Country and told us a lot of interesting Facts and stories during the drive and when we stopped. He was helpful, friendly and caring. We were in really good Hands. The stops for lunch are well picked, even if they are at touristy spots. The Riads we slept in are Beautiful and the hosts very friendly. Highlight was the first stop in the Valley of Roses where the Berber hosts played their traditional Music for us. Khalid, our Driver, was very funny and friendly. It was nice to see that he was as excited About the sights we visited as us. He was a very good Driver who made the best out of the sometimes quite bumpy roads. Overall, this 4-days trip was the highlight of our 10days in Morocco. We highly recommend this tour!
