Full description
Escape the frenzy of Marrakech in the Ourika Valley, a cool mountain getaway not far from the city. Travel by road to the picturesque village of Ourika nestled in the High Atlas Mountain Range. Experience some of the beauty of the North African countryside without sacrificing the comforts of your hotel or riad on this day trek in the mountains. Pass the village of Ouigrane on your way up a 6,563-foot peak and admire a panoramic view from the top over Ait Oucheg Valley, full of terraces and traditional houses made of stone and clay. Ourika is an archetypal Berber village, with friendly people happy to show you around. See how the Berbers live and experience some of their food and their culture as you have lunch in a Berber home. Later on, see the 7 waterfalls of Setti Fadma and the stunning Ghamt Mosque. Along the way, learn more about the area from your guide, including which plants in the area are medicinal.

Overall a great experience to Imlil! We went to Imlil instead of Ourika Valley due to the river flooding from heavy rains. Our driver Hassan and guide Ibriham were fabulous. We hiked about 1.5 hours up a trail, had tea in a Berbers hut, and finished the walk with a tasty chicken and veggie tanjine lunch. You should be fit for the hike and have good balance to cross the bridge to the waterfalls. On our return to Marrakech , we stopped to ride camels for 20-30 minutes. The camel experience was just off the road and felt a bit like a cheap fair ride. One recommendation is to have the Getyourguide app downloaded to communicate after booking to determine the meeting spot, which I did not. Forty I have Whatapp, which I used to commute with Hassan to set the pickup spot.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! The hike was short but it was nice to see something you couldn’t drive to and it really was a beautiful location! We also really enjoyed learning more about the local culture and meeting so many local people and hearing their stories. However, what really made the tour for us was our guide Saïd and driver Khalid they were so warm and welcoming and had so much to share about the country and the people - we learnt so much from them! They really made sure the day was fun for us and we cannot thank them enough. Highly recommend!

Wonderful trip, our guide Larbi and driver Hassan were fantastic, very welcoming and passionate about their country and culture. The tagine lunch was delicious with a wonderful view of the Atlas Mountains. Nice to get away from the city. The hike was short but good to stretch your legs and enough in the heat.
