What People Are Saying About Marrakech
My family and I booked this day trip with a group of friends and it was the highlight of our trip. From the driver (Aziz) who picked us up, to the local guide (Rhajid) who toured with us we had a wonderful day. We ended our hike with a lunch on the roof top with breathtaking views of the Atlas mountains. I would recommend this trip to absolutely anyone. The process was seamless and the entire trip was very flexible, in fact they even accommodated for two groups (all ages from 8 up) one group whom did not wish to hike much. We would certainly book this again!
We only booked the night before, but the guide, Mohammed was right there on time to pick us up the next morning. We had agreat day with lots if different impressions, incl. the 4x4 trip across the desert, the tea ceremony, lunch and a short hike in Imlil overseeing waterfalls. Mohammed tailored the trip to our needs where possible and was a great, knowledgable tour guide. We can only recommend Mohammed and the tour as such!
Our guide Lahsone (apologies if I have not spelt this correctly) was very polite, informative and friendly. We travelled approx 1.5 hours from our hotel in Marrakech to the High Atlas Mountains. We felt safe in the vehicle and stopped at a Argan oil co-operative on the way. When we arrived at the Imjil valley we had some nice mint tea before trekking up to a village where there were fantastic views of Mount Toubkal. We continued on the trails for a couple of miles to arrive in a traditional berber mountain village, where we sat on a roof-top terrace with the most amazing mountain views. We were served with a delicious meal, a traditional salad and bread, followed by a tagine with lamb meatballs and onions and some yoghurt and fruit. We decided to skip the camel ride but this was available to us on the return journey had we wanted to do it, in a nice area by the river with views of the mountains. In summary, a nice trip, friendly guide and good value - recommended!
From pick up (exactly on time) and until return to our hotel we felt safe and well taken care of by Abdul. He had great knowledge of geography, landscape, culture, villages, people etc along the way. His car was comfortable and clean, provided with drinking water. Visiting village marked gave great insight to Berber culture. Hiking along the water fall for almost two hours was refreshing (and the local guide was great). Lunch under apple trees, served by a Berber family was beyond expectations. Everything highly recommendable!
We went to the Atlas Mountains via an Argan women's cooperative with our lovely Berber guide Mohamed who was very informative and interesting about the Berber region and the challenges faced by the people of the Atlas mountains. Our couscous lunch in the home of Rashid, a villager in Idlil was beyond delicious and a walk to the nearby waterfall was quite beautiful. A great day was made even greater by Mohamed's company.
