Youssef was a very kind and knowledgeable teacher, we had an amazing time learning to make a couple pairs of babouch slippers. We started by selecting the leather for the slippers and throughout the process, we had a lovely chat with Youssef as well as Khawla, our guide for the experience. The steps were also clear and straightforward for anyone to follow. Answers to our questions about the details and the inner workings of the babouch making/colors were also presented in detail. Overall, it was one of the highlights of our trip to Morocco.

This leather workshop was one of my favorite memories of my week spent in Marrakech! It was very organized and highly interactive. I did not realize the many steps that are involved in crafting a pair of slippers and it gave me a new appreciation for the craft and those that make them. While there were many steps involved in making the slippers, the instructions for each step were clearly communicated and easy to follow. For someone that did not have any experience in this craft, my slippers turned out great. I highly recommend this activity to anyone who is looking for a unique and authentic experience during their time in Marrakech!

This workshop was great fun, highly interactive and well organised. A ‘translator’ met us at a central place, and took us to the venue - that was appreciated, because I doubt we would have found it otherwise!! The instructor was well organised, had templates and material ready and we felt well catered and prepared for. The amount of work that goes into a slipper was a real eye-opener, and certainly gave us a new appreciation of the instructor’s work. Our translator was hardly necessary as our instructor had a good grasp of English, but we enjoyed very much her input into the conversation. Overall, this was a top experience that I would highly recommend. We left very proud of our new slippers!!!
