Gain a deeper understanding of Berber culture as you embark on an unforgettable guided scenic day trip to the Atlas Mountains. Encounter enchanting countryside, get the chance to take a ride on a camel or horse, and meet locals in the villages of the Imlil Valley.  Start your day with pickup and meet your friendly local guide, who lives in one of the surrounding Berber villages. During your journey to the Atlas Mountains region, your guide will tell you about the rich culture and heritage of the Berber people as you hike between villages. Arrive in Tahnaout and visit a women-managed argan oil co-operative. Discover how the argan nut is pressed to make the famed argan oil products of Morocco.

Receive a warm welcome in Imlil with a glass of mint tea before traveling past stunning waterfalls and small Berber settlements. Pause in Tamatert to take in the views of ancient irrigated terraced fields, surrounded by cherry and walnut trees.  Feast on a traditional Moroccan meal in Ait Souka at the home of a Berber family. Relax with scenic valley views from a sun-bathed rooftop terrace.  After some rest, board your vehicle and travel through the scenic Kik Plateau, with spectacular 360-degree views. Gaze in awe at the magnificent High Atlas Mountains as you pass through stone desert, barren light brown plateaus, oases, and rolling hills.

Enjoy the serene surroundings of the Agafay Desert where you can take an optional camel or horse ride. Or, simply relax with some Moroccan mint tea for the perfect end to your day, before heading back to Marrakech.

We went as a family of 9 including two kids 6 and 10. We really enjoyed our trip. The driver picked us up on time and was very pleasant, ensuring we were comfortable through out. He drove safely and the van had AC, which helped. The argan oil cooperative was so lovely. We were welcomed by the lovely Salma, and were served delicious breakfast with fresh produce! It was nice to see how argan oil is made and we purchased some products too! We then met our guide Abdul, who took us on an amazing hike, about 1.5 hours. The scenery is spectacular! It can be a little tiring if you’re not used to hiking, however we managed ok. Abdul was fantastic through out, he helped out with the kids and kept us motivated. He also has great knowledge about the Berben history, and we learnt so much. The highlight for us was definitely the lunch, the best tagine in Morocco! We skipped the desert as my child was very tired. Overall a wonderful day and great value for money! Tip- wear suitable footwear.

Our tour began with our friendly driver, Oussama, who was always incredibly kind and eager to show us the best spots and take us some photos. His driving was impeccable, even amidst the chaos of some Moroccan streets! We started with a brief stop for breakfast, where we could taste a traditional bread accompanied by various flavors (argan oil, peanut butter, olive oil, and honey). It was a delightful experience, and we didn’t have to pay extra for it! Next, we continued our tour through the Atlas Mountains with Rasheed, who was very knowledgeable about all the trails. He was communicative, helpful, and also always willing to take photos of us and show us the best spots. We then stopped for lunch, which consisted of traditional tajines. The food was delicious, well-prepared, and served in generous portions. The camel ride was spectacular, and I highly recommend choosing this option. Although it was short (about 15 minutes), it was an incredible experience for a first-timer! 5 ⭐️ 👌
