Full description

Discover the edge of the Sahara Desert on a three-day budget tour from Marrakech, and explore the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Valley and Kasbah of Ouarzazate. Ride across the dunes of Erg Chebbi by camel and sleep at a desert camp under the stars.

Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Dades

Begin your journey by crossing the High Atlas Mountains past one Berber village after another to the UNESCO world heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This village is famous for its kasbah and fortified village and has been used as a set for some famous Hollywood epics and magazine photo shoots.

After some leisure time, enjoy lunch in a local restaurant and continue your drive through Ouarzazate, known as the Gate of the Sahara. Continue to Boumalne Dades, admiring the scenic drive along the Dades Valley, where you can enjoy dinner and rest for the night at Kasbah Amazigh or Hotel Chems.

Day 2: Dades - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga

Following breakfast, depart your hotel and drive to Tinghir and its dramatic Todgha Gorges, pausing for some free time to explore the canyons. Enjoy lunch at a local cafe and continue to Merzouga to meet your camel caravan.

Experience the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and watch the sunset set. Reach your desert camp before nightfall and enjoy an authentic Moroccan dinner under the stars. Local nomads will provide entertainment and show you how to play the traditional Tam Tam drums. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stop.

Day 3: Merzouga Ouarzazate - Marrakech

Following an early wake-up to watch the sunrise before breakfast (optional), a driver will be waiting to pick you up for the transfer back to Marrakech. Stop halfway for lunch at a local restaurant. Get dropped off at your original departure point or Djemaa El Fna around 8 PM.

You can also book upgrades for the night in the Bedouin camp such as the deluxe desert camp with a luxury private tent complete with an ensuite shower, bathroom facilities, and 5-star amenities. These upgrades need to be booked per person.

Desert tour was awesome! Got to see Ait Ben Haddou on day 1 with a hotel that night. Had some loca Morrocan food & music. Day 2 is the highlight riding the camel through the desert & seeing the stars under a campfire. Dress warm for day 2 as it's cold at night! Day 3 is all driving. Our host & driver Abdou was great. Super friendly, very clear with breaktimes, & went out of his way to help one of the girls when her phone was stolen. Highly recommend anyone in Marrakech to take this tour.

Amazing experience! The tour was well organised. We stopped at some heritage sites and interacted with a number of guides all of who were very knowledgeable, communicative and polite. There was a good number of comfort stops. Special thanks to our driver Kiki, who was very helpful, caring and fun throughout the tour! The food was delicious and plentiful. Most meals consisted of three courses: an appetiser, entrée and a desert, plus a drink of ones choice. We spent the first night at Maison Amazigh Dades - a very comfortable, neat hotel. The owners were super hospitable and treated us with a performance of traditional Amazigh music. Recommend staying here if you are ever in the area. The desert trip was fun. We got to watch both the sunrise and the sunset. Desert nights are cold, luckily there were enough blankets in the camp to stack up and stay warm. One staff member even helped me look for my Vape Pen I lost near the camels among the dunes - crazy hospitality! Overall, great value!

I would recommend everyone to take this tour. We usually don't book tours in advance, we prefer to organize everything on the spot as soon as you arrive with the local guides. This time we booked through getyourguide with Andò travel Agency and it was the best choice ever. The minivan was comfortable and clean, the organization of the tour was perfect and the many hours of travel are repaid by the wonderful experience in the desert and in the surrounding places. Our driver Agouim was friendly and helpful, he told us stories of the Berber population and enlivened the journey with good music. I didn't appreciate the request for money from the Air Ben Haddou guide which is excluded (2.5 euros each), even if it is specified in the description, but I would have preferred a free offer. Our guide Moulay to discover Tinghir was professional, personable and AUTHENTIC. Excluding lunches cost 10/12 euros (salad, main course, dessert/fruit) and are really good.
