The ATV to the Circular terraces was awesome!!! And the circular terraces itself was amazing!!! Edgar did a great job explaining the history of the terraces. He also was very patient and kind, staying with me as I huffed and puffed going back up. The same was true of our other guide, whom I missed getting his name. He stayed with me as well during the uphill climb from the salineras. Both of them also took awesome videos of us, making the videos look like it was taken by a drone. Thank you guys for an awesome experience!!!

  • From Cusco: Maras and Moray 6-Hour Tour

    5. From Cusco: Maras and Moray 6-Hour Tour

Head out on a drive along the Andean plateau in Chinchero to take in fantastic views of the Chicon Mountain as your 6-hour tour begins. Stop in Moray for a guided visit of the deep circular terraces of Moray. The purpose of the terraces is uncertain, but their depth, design and orientation with respect to wind and sun create a temperature difference of up to 15C/27 F from the top to the bottom. It is thought that the temperature difference was used to study the effects of different climatic conditions on crops. Continue to the Maras salt mines, comprising around 3,000 small wells of about 5 square meters. They have been used since Incan times for economic exchange.

The tour covered Salineras de Maras and Moray and also a stop at one farm where they present you how they color the wool from llamas and alpacas and then they ask you to buy something several times. That last part I didn’t like as much. We also stopped at one shop in Maras where we had a chocolate tasting and then you could buy all kinds of salt and chocolates, but nobody pressed you. The guide was excellent! The bus driver drove very fast so the ride was very bumpy. The tour started and ended on time which was very nice.

Guide Algredo was awesome. He reinforces his eloquent speeches eith repeats that allowd u to retain all the information he dissipates. He showed us around on a busy day that covers Maras salt mines, Moray ruins, Chincherro ruins, a visit to a authentic Incan handicraft place, and the highlight being the Sacred calley at Ollantaytambo. Alfredo went above and beyond every single time you have questions and concerns. At the end of the tour, Alfredo helped us find the office of the next tour we had scheduled by walking with us around the Plaza de Armas at Cusco because of police blockade. Lunch at Taki wasi was an exotic buffet spread, it was sumptuous. Driver of the van was great, drove safely and never made any rough maneuvers. I highly recommend this tour with Alfredo and his driver Tinto.
