Full description
Meet your guide and dive into the history of the Philippines, beginning with the oldest stone church in the country. Hear about how and why the Spanish ended up on this side of the world, as well as the everlasting marks they left after over 300 years of occupation. Next, cross the street and enter an expertly restored, 19th-century aristocrats' home and marvel at the furnishings and design, located at the point where east and west influences meet. Make your way toward a rarely visited part of the historic wall of Intramuros and catch a glimpse into its marvelous past.  Then, step into the history museum, which offers further insight into Manila's old city and its history intertwined with the Catholic Church. Continue onward through the narrow streets, making a quick stop at the WWII memorial to hear about the role of the Philippines in the war. Another quick stop at the Cathedral that represents the seat of the Catholic Church in the Philippines Then we learn about the Filipino's fight for independence at the old military garrison.

A Great Experience with an Awesome Guide!!! Our guide was Mr. Jian T. of Explore Manila Tours. Jian was very knowledgeable in each location and highlighted on the history through the periods of time. He pointed out specific details within each location we visited and he answered any questions we had. He had a great personality and you were able to get the feeling he was very passionate in giving his tours. He also has a great sense of humor, interjecting jokes and local sayings in his presentation. I was very thankful for this as my girlfriend without thinking touched a historic painting within the 1st 15 min of tour, he nicely reminded her to try not to touch objects :) Just to summarize, Jian really cared for us and we could tell he wanted to make it an enjoyable experience. Although the tour was only a couple hours, we really got to know him and appreciate his character. If you have a tour with Mr. Jian look forward to an awesome time and we look forward to our next tour with him!!!
