Full description
Bike through narrow lanes, far from the tourist crowds, and truly experience the beauty of Myanmar's former royal capitals.
At midday, transfer by private van with a local English-speaking guide to the back entrance of Ava. Pedal along flat, quiet roads through a village where little has changed in the last century. Stop in to visit local artisans at work, crafting by hand items such as bamboo mats and local cigars.
Continue past impressive 200-year old brick structures, the former palace grounds of Ava and through a banana plantation to the end of the village. Following a short ferry ride, its back on the bikes to the town of Amarapura.
Pop in to meet traditional silk and cotton weavers, pause for a cup of sweet tea in a local shop and discover the quiet rhythms of village life. As the sun begins to drop, arrive at the famous U Bein's Bridge, the world's longest teak bridge, and board a row boat for a sunset cruise.
The tour concludes with a transfer by van back to the city centre.
