This was my second trip with Rabbie's and Adam was excellent as the guide. The boat cruise on Lake Windermere was a real treat. For those who plan on the Dove house tour as well as the river side walk and town center trip, try to take the first available Dove house tour at 1:00 PM. It takes around 40 minutes so taking the first tour would leave you with another 30 minutes or so for the riverside and Grasmere town center. It would be really nice if Rabbie's can have an arrangement and pre-book the tour before we arrive to save time. Overall an excellent trip.

Discover the wonderful scenery of the Lake District on a guided tour from Manchester. Enjoy a scenic boat cruise on Lake Windermere, with visits to the charming villages of Bowness, Hawkshead, and Grasmere. Depart from Manchester by bus and travel to the first stop of the day at Bowness. Explore this charming lakeside town, before embarking on a leisurely cruise on Lake Windermere. Then, travel around the southern tip of Windermere and towards Coniston Water. Enjoy the views of this body of water before arriving in the picturesque conservation village of Hawkshead, where famed poet William Wordsworth attended grammar school. Head through the narrow country lanes north towards Grasmere, which Wordsworth described as “the loveliest spot that man hath found”. Take some free time to visit Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, taste the legendary gingerbread, or enjoy the serenity of the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden by the River Rothy. Continue to the southern shore of Ullswater Lake for a final photo stop. Then, relax on the return journey to Manchester, arriving back in the city center in the early evening.

Meeting point

The meeting point for the tour departure is the bus Parking Bays, located on Store Street. If traveling from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station: Take the main exit (1 - Piccadilly) from the station. Follow the pedestrian walkway to the traffic lights/Caffe Nero and at the end of the pedestrian walkway or Station Approach, you cross over at the lights and turn left onto London Road. Walk straight ahead for around 100 metres, passing underneath a pedestrian footbridge. Turn left under the railway bridge/tunnel opposite Motel One. When you're through the tunnel, you'll see the bus parking straight ahead on the left. Walk until you see your white Rabbie's mini bus.
