Full description
You leave manic Manchester behind and head straight for the lovely Lake District. Your first stop of the day is at Bowness that sits on the shores of Windermere. You have time here to take a leisurely cruise upon the lake or wander around the town and admire the sublime views of the landscapes. You travel around the southern tip of Windermere and towards Coniston Water. You enjoy the views of this body of water before arriving in the picturesque conservation village of Hawkshead. This is where the poet William Wordsworth attended Grammar School. After exploring the cosy village, you take the narrow country lanes north towards Grasmere, a place Wordsworth described as “the loveliest spot that man hath found”. There's free time to visit Wordsworth’s Dove Cottage, taste the legendary gingerbread, or enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden by the River Rothy. We then take in spectacular views of Ullswater Lake as we head along country roads to its southern shores before returning to Manchester in the early evening.

Meeting point

The meeting point for the tour departure is Coach parking bays, Store Street (Boad Street intersection), Manchester, M1 2WD. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to departure. If travelling from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station: Take the main exit (1 - Piccadilly) from the station. Follow the pedestrian walkway to the traffic lights/Caffe Nero and at the end of the pedestrian walkway or Station Approach, you cross over at the lights and turn left onto London Road. Walk straight ahead for around 100 metres, passing underneath a pedestrian footbridge. Turn left under the railway bridge/tunnel opposite Motel one. When you're through the tunnel, you'll see the coach parking straight ahead on the left. Walk until you see your white Rabbie's mini coach.

Awesome day exploring the beautiful Manchester countryside. It’s a small group tour with comfortable transport to keep you warm. The places we visited were absolutely stunning and great for pictures. For lunch, do try the Grasmere, The Wordsworth hotel restaurant’s Scampi and Maple Pork belly. Special shout-out to our lovely driver who was very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. He would always look out for our well-being and check if we needed to use the bathroom. He made a bathroom pit-stop on the way to our first location upon request which made the trip relaxing. Music played along the trip was very calming, volume could be slightly lower. Would be better if we had more time for our lunch stop which was huge and had several walking trail options compared to our final stop which was just a small town. Overall a highly recommended trip if your’e in Manchester. Do arrive early as the meet up point may be hard to find. Some picture directions would be better for navigation.
