What to Expect
Enjoy a private tour of Manaus City and discover the Amazonas Opera House, the Indian Museum. Begin at the Amazonas Opera House, a neoclassical building inaugurated in 1896. The opera house is a landmark of the golden era and contains traces of art-nouveau. The chandeliers, chairs, crystals, paintings, masks, iron frameworks, marble, and even the majestic dome, were all imported from Europe.
Next, head toward the Indian Museum. Inaugurated in 1952, the museum is run by Salesian Nuns and contains over 3,000 pieces over 6 rooms. Learn the history of many Amazonian Indian tribes, including their habits, customs, and traditions. The culture and lifestyle of the indigenous populations from the upper Negro River – such as the Tukanos, Dessanas, Tarianos, and Baniwas – is especially portrayed.
After the theater and museum you will visit the central Maket, an historical place where you can find many handcrafts, typical food and medicinal plants.
