Our family LOVED every moment of this tour! From the moment we were picked up until we were dropped off, we knew we were in good hands. Fabinho, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable and his English is excellent. We started off the day trekking through the rain forest and learning - the trek was an easy pace and all our children were able to keep up (youngest is 7). We came back to the floating house to a delicious lunch that was being prepared. We had the opportunity to rest and relax before moving on to the next activity. The place where we interacted with the pink dolphins was further away from Manaus and proved to be a much better experience. Our family went to the one closer to the Manaus the following day and it felt like a factory. At this location, we were able to swim and take our time to play and enjoy our time uninterrupted! We went fishing for piranha and nearly everyone caught one! The night time boat ride & black cayman spotting was also so cool. Wish I could write more!

Full description

Start your day with pickup from your hotel at approximately 8:00 AM. Drive west from Manaus for about one hour until you reach the Castanho lake where your host will be waiting for you. Take a motorized canoe heading towards the jungle to begin a 2-hour trek. Learn more about Amazonian fauna and flora, medicinal plants, and jungle survival techniques. (you must wear long pants, closed toed shoes, use insect repellent and bring a raincoat)  From this walk, visit a project for the protection of pink river dolphins. Learn about these beautiful and friendly creatures, and the conservation efforts underway to protect them. Take the unique opportunity to enter the water to interact with them. (bring your swim suits and your towels) Visit the host’s home and enjoy a delicious lunch with his family. Learn more about the local people’s culture and Amazonian history in general. Next, enjoy a boat ride through the flooded forest to go piranha fishing and catch these famous ferocious water beasts. (The lunch is simple, we don't have fancy menu. bing sunscreen and a hat for the ride) As night falls embark on a search for alligators and other reclusive nocturnal wildlife species. Return to the road and head back to Manaus, arriving at your hotel at approximately 8:00 PM. (you can bring a flashlight if you want)

Know before you go

  • We may change the places for some activities due to wet and dry season (wet season: November - June; Dry season: July - October)
  • The Amazon region is hot, rainy and humid. So be prepared for that.
  • The transport for the activities is a simple wooden motorized canoe with no cover
  • If you are coming on a cruise ship, you can enjoy a special starting time exclusive to your group; just get in touch with the local partner and let them know what time you plan to start
  • If you have limited mobility this tour may not be suitable for you (we offer a river day tour that may be better).
  • If you have 2 days available we also have a tour with all these activities plus overnight away from Manaus.

We had an amazing experience with this group. Overall, communication was excellent—they reply to WhatsApp messages very quickly. Transportation was well-organized, the pricing is competitive, and the value is outstanding. Now, about the tour itself: our guide, Dennis, was fantastic. He’s a young gentleman, very knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about his work. He went above and beyond, providing a wealth of background information—not just the basics but much more, which truly reflected his enthusiasm for the subject. During the tour, we visited a local tribe and watched traditional dances. While it does have a bit of a touristy feel (understandably, since we were tourists), it was still a memorable experience. We also had the chance to see pink dolphins—magnificent creatures! A word of advice: make sure you visit the dolphins last. Swimming with them is refreshing, both literally and figuratively.
