Månafossen is a waterfall in Gjesdal municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The 92-metre (302 ft) tall waterfall is located along the river Månaåna, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) east of the end of the Frafjorden where the village of Frafjord is located. The waterfall is in a fairly isolated area. There is a parking area nearby with a steep, rough 250-metre (820 ft) hiking trail up a mountainside to see the waterfall. The hike takes about 30 minutes. Visiting time approx. 1 hour. An easy approach even for children In the very south of Rogaland, you'll find an area with such unique geology that it has been recognised by UNESCO. Here you walk on the same rock as on the moon: anorthosite. Astronauts and scientists from NASA have even visited the area to prepare to take rock samples on the moon! Magma Geopark stretches across five municipalities: Eigersund, Sokndal, Lund, Bjerkreim and Flekkefjord. Upon arrival, your adventure starts with a guided tour up to Månafossen Waterfall, Norway´s 7th largest free-falling water at 92 meters. The round-trip hike takes about one hour, and thereafter you will be transported 10 minutes away and delivered to the waters' edge at Frafjord. Frafjord is a small, quant fjord, more protected by the wind due to its vast, towering mountainous walls; the perfect place for a safe, adventurous paddle through Fjord Norway. At Frafjord you will be set up with the right equipment for your paddle. We provide wetsuits, life vests and quality SUP (Stand up paddle) boards and kayaks designed for all skill levels. Your guide will paddle with you into the fjord, where you will be able to soak in the magic of the Norwegian fjords. and will conclude with a coffee or hot chocolate on the pier where you can take pictures , gaze at the amazing views and reflect on your experience.
