Definitely worth doing the Alcazaba with a guide. Imma our tour guide really bought the history of the castle to life and made it a very interesting visit. You can go round on your own but it's not anywhere near as good. At the end of the guided tour you are allowed to stay and have a further wander around on your own. Also a bonus that with the guided tour you don't have to queue to go in. All in all a great value for money
