Couple and some other people on a sight spot in Paris.

This may be the best time ever to see Paris’s famous sights. Many monuments and museums are quieter than usual, while timed entry tickets ensure a limited number of visitors. Get your bearings with a family city tour, or try a Segway or bike tour to see the sights. Once you’ve got the lay of the land, It’s time to tick the big hitters off the bucket list: head up the Eiffel Tower to marvel at the views below, then stop off at the stunning Arc de Triomphe. Next visit the Louvre museum with its incredible collection of art and artefacts. Personalize your Louvre experience by choosing a treasure hunt tour, Egyptian art tour, or a private family tour. The charming city of Strasbourg boasts medieval architecture and a wonderful river and canal system. It’s also home to the European Parliament which you can zoom past on a kid-friendly  Segway tour. Explore the city’s green spaces by bike, and afterwards enjoy a “tarte flambée” — this pizza-like flatbread is traditionally topped with sour cream, bacon, and onions, and will definitely be a culinary hit with little ones. The surrounding region of Alsace is filled with medieval villages and vineyards. Explore the area on day tours that include historical visits and, for the adults at least, wine tastings.

Tour the city in a vintage Citroën 2CV, or burn some energy on a fun bike tour. Or how about a jet ski tour? That’s right, you can jet ski on the Garonne river and soak in the sights along the way. As Bordeaux is the home of great wine, it’s also the home of great food. Take a walking tour of the old town and visit the market, or taste your way through the city’s specialties on a food tour.

Foodie families will also enjoy visiting the markets of the Luberon area, while no summertime trip to Provence is complete without seeing the famous lavender fields. For a walk on the wild side, take the kids to the salt marshes of the Camargue. If they keep their eyes open, they’ll spot wild horses, black bulls, and even flamingos.
