For couples hooked on classics…
The Hungarian capital has a rich history and boasts some extraordinary sights. Start exploring the city on a walking tour that includes a visit to the opera. One of the best things to do in Budapest is to visit St Stephen’s Basilica. Its dome is over 300 feet high, making it one of the tallest buildings in the city. You and your partner will enjoy endless views with a tour that takes you to the tower or enjoy an organ concert featuring some of Hungary’s top musicians. All this happens on the Pest side of the city.
On the Buda side, history lovers will enjoy a walking tour of Buda Castle with a historian. Admire the views from the city’s most romantic vantage point, Fisherman’s Bastion, as you learn more about the castle complex that was founded in the 13th century.

For duos that want to make a splash…
Budapest is famous for its many thermal hot springs. A spa break is always one of the best weekend getaways for couples, and it’s so easy to enjoy some down-time at Széchenyi Thermal Bath with its three outdoor and 15 indoor pools. While you’re at it, why not add a romantic couple’s massage into the mix?
If you prefer being on the water to being in the water, the Danube River will provide many inspiring and romantic moments for you and your loved one. Enjoy a cruise with a cocktail and see the sights such as Buda Castle and the impressive Hungarian Parliament Building. Or, push the boat out (not sorry) with a candlelit dinner cruise and see the sights lit up at night.

For adventure-loving twosomes…
Sharing unique experiences makes for the best couples’ vacations. Budapest provides some interesting options for those with an adventurous spirit. Crawl and explore the unique limestone caves that run underneath the city on a half-day caving tour. That might not sound like romance to everyone, but for adrenaline junkies, spelunking is just the ticket. Find out more about the 62-mile long, labyrinth-like cave system with a professional guide as you crawl and clamber through the caves.

For foodie fanatics…
If you and your sweetie love sampling new foods, then indulge in a culinary-inspired date. Either take a market tour and cooking class or add some history to the mix on a walking dinner tour to taste traditional Hungarian fare at several restaurants.
For an afternoon of decadent delights, start with a visit (and tasting) at the Budapest Chocolate Museum. Learn about the history of chocolate, make your own creation, and finish with a tea tasting. Then, it’s time to learn more about Hungary’s famous wines with a wine expert. Your wines are paired with artisan cheese and charcuterie — a perfect foodie feast!

For alternative couples…
If you and your partner want to opt for something less mainstream, you’re in luck. From street art to ruin bars, galleries to hip stores selling locally designed fashion, Budapest provides an urban haven for cool couples. Explore alternative Budapest with a local guide on a walking tour — and be sure to take some shots for Insta while you’re at it.
