1. Splash out
Amsterdam has over 165 canals, and taking a boat ride is one of the best ways to see all the sights on your Amsterdam sightseeing list. A romantic cruise with a glass of bubbly or watching the city lights sparkle on a sunset cruise is the perfect start to a swoon-worthy date. If a crazy water experience is more your date night vibe, a splash tour in an amphibian bus is great fun — the bright yellow bus drives into the Ij River and cruises along the canals!

2. Get a taste of the good life
Dutch food is hearty and delicious. Foodie couples need look no further than the charming Jordaan neighborhood for a taste of local fare. After exploring the cool Nine Streets area, join a food tour to discover traditional eats. If you’re in the mood for a more vibey scene, the trendy De Pijp ‘hood is ideal to explore with a local guide.

3. Pedal around and pour a pint
Work off all the Dutch delicacies like stroopwafels (crispy, syrupy waffles) and frietjes (fries) on a bike tour. For couples looking to indulge in the city’s famous brew, one of the most popular things to do in Amsterdam is a visit to the former Heineken beer brewery. Find out how one of the world’s favorite beers is made and enjoy a cold one, too. Refined palates will enjoy nibbling on some Dutch cheeses and a visit to the House of Bols, one of the oldest distilleries in the world.

4. Explore the old and the new
Whether you and your date enjoy learning about history or prefer urban art, you can experience it all in Amsterdam. Classics lovers should be sure to attend a concert in Royal Concertgebouw, a 19th-century building, followed by a leisurely Sunday brunch. Art lovers shouldn’t miss a night out at Moco, Amsterdam’s Museum of Contemporary Art. Works by urban and modern artists such as Banksy, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat have been exhibited here. It’s definitely one of the coolest places to visit in Amsterdam.

5. Say it with flowers
Just an hour’s bus ride from Amsterdam, you’ll find Keukenhof Gardens. In spring, it’s home to millions of tulips that bloom in a riot of colors. Exploring the 32-hectare park and its formal gardens make for a perfect half-day trip. If it’s too early in the year for tulips, make a day in the city a flower-filled experience. Start with visiting the floating flower market, located between Koningsplein and Muntplein. Then, head to the Van Gogh Museum which houses 200 of his paintings and twice the amount of drawings. Lose yourself in the artist’s floral works and see his “Irises,” “Almond Blossom,” and “Sunflowers” up close with a tour of the Van Gogh Museum.

6. Reach new heights at the A’DAM Lookout
Take your loved one on a sky-high journey and drink in the fantastic views at A’DAM Lookout. You’ll take a lightning-fast trip up the elevator to the 20th floor of A’DAM Tower where you can enjoy 360-degree views of the city. Have a drink at the bar or, for an adrenaline rush, swing on “Over the Edge.” You’ll dangle over 300 feet in the air on Europe’s highest swing!

7. Say “I do”
There’s no more romantic date than a proposal…Amsterdam has been famous as a trading center for diamonds for over 500 years. Take a diamond factory tour and see professional experts at work polishing priceless diamonds. Or how about touring the Diamond Museum and taking a diamond masterclass? You’ll learn about diamond valuation and, during the workshop, you can try your hand at polishing a real diamond. Then, it’s time to pop the question…
