Full description

Visit the Reina Sofía Museum which represents an intersection of spaces, objects, and times: a place where narratives are woven together and stories told, rendering every intersection meaningful as it leads off in one direction or another, turning it into an intense experience of discovery and knowledge. This is why everything that is exhibited, in all its strangeness, all its questions, has to actually touch the visitor’s everyday reality, bringing about a genuine learning experience. The Museo Reina Sofia’s presentation of its collection posits a multi-narrative journey, which adopts a definite standpoint and not only keeps the mystery inherent in art alive, but also strengthens resistance towards the single, fixed reading. Traditional genres coexist side by side with photography, film, sound and dance. With your full-day ticket, you will have access to more than 21,000 works currently on display in the main building.

Kind of hard to screw up a skip the line ticket, so in this case, GYG gets an "excellent". The museum has a brilliant collection, beautifully curated and not too crowded, at least on the afternoon I was there. Tip to avoid the crowds: the large groups and tours go in the morning.

Spectator to see so many of Dali, Picasso and Joan Milo classic artworks in cubism and surrealism. The museum is spacious and has a lovely outdoor courtyard. I could have done without all the obnoxious visitors coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths. And watching certain individuals openly taking photos of the paintings while I was told “ no photos”.

Make sure you give yourself enough time to fully appreciate this place. I'd suggest 2 hours! They have free coat check and there is an audio guide available which I personally found only somewhat valuable mostly because I am not an art student and didn't appreciate or understand the significance of art evolution.
