Full description
At dusk, when the sun sets over Madrid, shadows from the past stretch out like ancient ghosts to veil the city in the black of night, with only lanterns leading the way. During this walk through alleys and squares, you will explore hidden corners and hear facts and ghost stories, superstitions and old beliefs, as well as stories of hatred and persecution. This tour presents the dark side of the city and the folklore of the Los Madriles, told by an elegant narrator who will share with you the most intimate and atrocious aspects of the Spanish Inquisition.

Tour was very informative which myself and my boyfriend enjoyed. Guide was very knowledgeable and included all on the tour. A lot of walking which was fine for us however, I did not an older couple leave. So if you are not able to walk far may find the tour difficult.

We really enjoyed this tour on our first evening in Madrid. Our guide (sorry, I don't remember her name) was very good at delivering the script. Unfortunately, she fell a bit short on answering questions. She could make a good tour great by noting and then researching some of the more basic questions that she's asked. For example, my question, which she did not have an answer for: "How often did the big judgment day spectacles in the Plaza Mayor occur?" Seems pretty basic to me.... The best thing about the tour, for me, was that each story that our guide told was directly related to the building or plaza or spot that we stopped at. When we did this tour in Budapest, our guide told lots of spooky stories, but they were often unrelated to the spot where he stopped to tell them.

Our American tour guide was well placed as an actor and also a bit theatrical, which goes well with the topic. My friend and I really liked it. However, she should have spoken louder or used a loudspeaker, since the noise and background noise were often very high. Otherwise, one or the other story was a bit too long-winded for me, but the tour is definitely recommended. The guide was very personable and tried hard.
