Review summary
If you travel to Madrid, you must visit these museums. It is seldom you can say that you saw the most famous paintings with your own eyes. But you can do so after attending these museums. Unfortunately we were not able to attend all the museums as they were shut down for the first time since 1939 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Hopefully we can attend in the future.

All three museums were excellent, and by having pre-purchased tickets, there were no long lines. Note: there was one temporary exhibit at the Thyssen that my ticket was not valid for, but there was so much to see anyway (including other temporary exhibits) that I did not care. Loved all three museums!

The volume of wonderful art in these museums is enormous, so to be able to go several times and pick out pieces to see over several days (without having to pay each time) was very valuable.
