Really great day. Small group only. We had 10 in ours. Ana, our guide, was lovely and extremely knowledgeable. She took her time and was happy to explain everything as we went. We had a lot of stops and got a lot of free samples. Felt like it was worth the money. A lovely, intimate guide to Funchal’s culinary history and really interesting. Would very much recommend. A food and drink tour in Madeira is an absolute must for anyone who loves unique culinary experiences. From the moment we began, I knew we were in for a real treat, as the island’s rich gastronomic heritage was on full display, blending local flavors with international influences. From the moment we began, One of the highlights was sampling Madeira wine, a fortified wine that perfectly embodies the island’s character. We also had the chance to taste local beer, wine and the iconic poncha, a Madeiran drink. As for the food, we indulged in an array of delightful treats, including traditional biscuits and chocolates each infused with local ingredients and flavors. The savory dishes were just as memorable, particularly the fresh fish dishes featuring local catches like scabbardfish, and the succulent pork dishes, all prepared with a balance of spices that made every bite a culinary adventure.. not forgetting our very knowledgeable guide Matt who made the whole experience very memorable.
