I fully enjoyed every minute of this tour and got to see so much in a small group of 5. We had a nice lunch (not included in the price but organised by the guide - no obligation). My guide was so welcoming and I loved her energy. I only wished I’d read the description better&taken layers for Fanal but we only had a quick stop there anyway. Maybe not the best weather for sea swimming; the sea was very rough and not so warm but I enjoyed it all the same. We swam in the pools at Seixal (had the option at Porto Moniz but I needed lunch!) and it was very slippery and treacherous getting in and out of the water but once in, it was lovely. Very glad I booked this tour.

I prefer to choose my own adventure and am not one to sign up for tourist activities... but this one I am pleased to say is totally worth it. Duarte our driver and guide was equal parts funny, surly, skilled and knowledgable. As an amateur botanist I was pleased he focused on plants and trees — he obviously loves the island and its diversity. The day takes you via motorways and tunnels, winding steeply until ascending into the interior mountains. With each mile the roads narrow and shortly after an espresso stop, the climb begins onto furrowed and rocky 4x4 roads with tight switchbacks and great views. There was just the right amount of stops to take in the flora and fauna until skilled driving delivered us to pavement at the summit. The island's diversity continues to unfold with a stop first at the ancient Laurel forest for a hike and then descending quickly to the natural lava pools for lunch and a dip. Top rolled back we all got to enjoy the day in all its variations. Green Devil!

Lovely trip! Weather was a bit of a difficult one, however, our guide was so helpful and positive! Luckily, the weather turned around when we do pools! We visited so many sites that, otherwise we would not be able to visit. Had a lovely time, I definitely recommend
