Located some 300 miles off the coast of Africa, and more than 600 miles off mainland Europe, the volcanic island of Madeira offers some of the best landscape for outdoor activities, and on this 3-hour tour you will try one of the best. Canyoning takes place on a mountainous watercourse. To overcome the obstacles of nature, you have to swim, jump, and rappel in small waterfalls. The route of the Chão da Lagoa offers 2 rappels, the largest some 60 feet (18 meters) high. All you need to bring is a towel, bathing suit, sports shoes (that you don't mind getting wet) and a change of clothes. All other equipment, including safety harness and wetsuit, is provided. Armed with a sense of adventure, hike through the lush landscape of Madeira - legendary for its floral diversity - along rocky paths to the rappel site. Once you are safely harnassed, abseil down the waterfalls. Don’t worry if you’ve never tried it before; the guides are extremely safety conscious and professional.
