The Botanical Garden cable car is situated between 10-12 minutes (by car) from Funchal city center. Start out near the Botanical Garden, located about 3 kilometers from the center of Funchal. The Botanical Garden was created in 1960 and quickly became one of the major attractions on the island of Madeira. Journey over the Valley of João Gomes stream, passing forest-covered mountains. Take some spectacular photos of the Bay of Funchal, the surrounding mountains, and the sea. The ride takes approximately 15 minutes. End at the village of Monte, at an elevation of 1,025 meters above sea level. Explore the village which was a health resort for the upper classes in the early 20th century, and today a site for trying a toboggan ride down the hill. Depending on the option selected, you can end your journey in Monte or take the cable car back to the Botanical Garden. The cable car operates in accordance with the strictest European and international security standards, ensuring that you can focus on enjoying the ride.

On this tour you can tailor an itinerary with the help of your local guide/driver. You can choose the different areas you want to visit. The City of Funchal, the Fishing Village of Câmara de Lobos, the west sea cliffs of Cabo Girão, the unique Fajã dos Padres, the hill side village of Monte, the east coast cliffs of Garajau, the Botanical Garden, or even the breathtaking mountain views of Nuns Valley are all possible options for your tour itinerary. You can choose to visit Funchal city, learn about its history, and see some of its iconic landmarks, like the Sé Cathedral. The only two ways to get there are by cable car ride or by boat. On the way up to Cabo Girão and Fajã dos Padres you will be able to admire an ever-changing landscape along the winding roads that fallow the natural shape of the hills. On the return trip to Funchal from the west coast you might choose to stop at the natural swimming pools of Doca do Cavacas. Travel on to Garajau, set at the east end of the bay of Funchal. You will be offered a spectacular view of the Christ the Redeemer statue - older than the one in Brazil - whilst marveling at the crystal-clear waters on the beach below. You also have the option to visit the Botanical Garden. Whatever your choice of itinerary, your guide will be there to help you at every moment.
