Picking up the ticket was more difficult than expected, mainly because the pick-up centres were not as obvious as they could have been and they were under staffed for the Easter period. The tour itself was very informative although the audio guide was at times out of sync with what you could actually see. The music in between the parts of the guide became quite annoying and repetitive - I would just remove my ear-piece when it came on (typically when we were stuck in traffic!) As part of the tour we took a boat ride down the Thames from Tower Bridge to the London Eye. This was with Thames Clippers who appeared to have the newest boats of all the operators. Despite the poor weather, it was a very comfortable trip although the rain meant it was difficult to see as much as we had hoped. On a sunny weekend, this would have been an excellent choice, but the the cool Easter we have just had meant it was cold on the top of the bus. Still well worth doing and good value I would say
The ease of booking the tickets online was the first great thing about using Golden Tours tourist bus tour of London. We were also blessed with very nice weather and completely mesmerised by our tour guide. I'm very sorry that I didn't catch his name but he proved to be a never-ending well of local knowledge, spanning from history, literature and popular culture. We had a an amazing time and enojoyed every minute of the bus tour, followed by the included free Thames Clipper boat ride. The only catch is not to leave too little time towards the end of the day (rush hour in particular) if you are trying to catch a connection out of London, because the frequency of tour buses is not great after 5pm.
We were given headphones to listen to descriptions of areas of interest as we passed; we had a heads up before we arrived at each interest; from the top of the double decker bus (open on top deck) we had an excellent view of everything. Buses ran on schedule and the drivers gave us individual help with directions and sights. Next trip we take this is the way we'll tour, again. There are 3 HO HO bus lines in London, all with similar routes and scheduled stops. Ours, The Golden Tours HO HO, was great, AND we got one free extra day (through March 2016 I believe).
Very happy with how easy and quick it was to buy the tickets. Unfortunately we were actually out on the trip when I bought the tickets on my phone, It said I could just show my phone when entering but then found out I needed a print out so I had to find an internet cafe to print the tickets... this wasnt mentioned when I did the purchase online (luckily for us there was an internet cafe quite close).
The buses w re ok, easy to follow , we got most of it, the boat ride easy to find, people were very kind, for the tour guide it was quite difficult to follow him while moving and talking as well, too fast both ( we wasted some time to find the meeting point) I was with young people, so we shared the same attitude.
