I travelled to Machu Pichu from Cusco. I booked through Peru&U for the entry tickets to the site and to acquire a private guide two months in advance. All the arrangements were well organized by the company and they kept in touch throughout the two months before my trip occurred to keep me informed of what to expect. The guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable about Machu Pichu. He took care from the moment we arrived in Machu Pichu Puebla to show us what we needed to do so we didn’t miss our travel up to the site, and he was very understanding about the effect the elevation would have on our breathing capacity and didn’t rush us through the site.

Booking our entrance ticket and bus ticket ahead of time saved hours of having to wait in line for tickets. Get Your Guide was quick and easy to navigate. AND very helpful support who were quick to reply. We went at 6am and I now have pictures with not a single person in them. It was do powerful. Some people go 2 days in a row in order to access different areas of Machu Picchu.

If you plan a day trip to Machu Picchu, I recommend to get started early, I stay in Cusco and it took 5 hrs to get to Machu Picchu, first 30 mins taxi ride to train station and then 4 hrs train ride to Machu Picchu Pueblo and then another 25 mins bus ride up the mountain. When you buy the ticket, it will ask you time of arrival so make sure you calculate your travel time accordingly because there are limited on how many visitors allow in the park per day.
