The winding labyrinths beneath the Lviv Old Town hide plenty of intriguing secrets and mysteries, the most striking of which will be revealed to you by your expert guide. If you are brave, and ghosts don’t frighten you, you will enjoy this exciting journey!
First, you will descend to the mysterious undergrounds of the Church of Jesuits. Your guide will show you precious frescoes of the 17th century and remains of the defense walls. You will see an engraved sarcophagus of the 18th century that has some strange marks on its cover, as if someone was trying to open it from inside. Also, you will hear a horrifying legend about the ghost of the Black Monk, who wanders in the Church looking for his soul.
Then, you will discover another mysterious and chilling attraction – the dungeons of the Dominican Cathedral and the remains of the Prince Lev Castle. Walk through the winding wooden galleries and enter a dim hall with a gibbet in the middle. An expert guide will tell you about different types of executions and torments that were used in the Middle Ages.
Finally, you will explore the undergrounds of the Pharmacy Museum and the crypt of the Transfiguration Church. At the end of the trip, you will visit an exciting coffee mine of the Lviv coffee house “Kopalnya Kavy”.
