What to Expect
Luxor is often cited as the world’s largest open-air museum due to its wealth or archeological relics. Take a day trip from Safaga and explore the treasures of Luxor, led by an expert Egyptologist guide.
Upon your arrival in Safaga you will be transferred to Luxor by air-conditioned vehicle. The journey time is around 3 hours. Your first stop is the famous Karnak Temple, the largest place of worship ever built. It was constructed in the beginning of the age of Middle Kingdom and completed in the age of the Greco Roman Kingdom. Stroll through the vast complex taking in the Hypostyle Hall with its incredible forest of giant pillars.
After a delicious lunch at local restaurant, head to the west bank of the River Nile to visit the 2 colossal statues of Amenhotep III. The Valley of the Kings, where the magnificent tombs of the ancient kings were first discovered, is your next stop. These tombs were carved deep into the desert rock, richly decorated, and filled with treasures for the afterlife of the Pharaohs.
Visit the Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary, an impressive temple dedicated to the only female pharaoh Hatshepsut. The temple rises out of the desert plain in a series of terraces and merges with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it.
At around 18:00 transfer back to your cruise ship at Safaga Port.
