This 14-hour tour to Cairo includes round-trip flights from Luxor and transportation in an air-conditioned minibus. You will be picked up from your hotel in Luxor and transferred to the airport for your short flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, an Egyptologist guide will meet you for your tour of the Giza Plateau.
Home to some of Egypt’s greatest attractions, the plateaus is home to the Great Pyramids, the last remaining of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Constructed over a 20-year period, concluding around 2,560 BC, they were once the tallest man-made structures in the world, remaining so for more than 3,800 years.
Your guide will provide a fascinating narrative as you explore the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinos, as well as the Great Sphinx. Gaze at the mythological creature, formed of a lion’s body and human head, stretching more than 240 feet (73 meters) long and 65 feet (20 meters) high in the Valley Temple.
Stop for lunch at a quality restaurant, and then continue to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities. The neo-classical building was designed by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon and contains more than 120,000 masterpieces, ranging from the pre-dynastic to the Pharaonic and Greco-Roman periods. Among its most famous collections are the treasures of King Tutankhamun.
End your tour at the atmospheric old market of the Khan El-Khalili Bazaar and try your bargaining skills as you search for souvenirs in the maze of alleys. You will be transferred back to Cairo Airport for the flight back to Luxor, with direct transfers back to your hotel.
