One of our most popular tours: Luxemburg is certainly a modern and vibrant city with a rich history and impressive ancient and contemporary architecture. Departure will be from 18, Boulevard de Berlaimont in Brussels. In the old part of Luxembourg, our guide will take you to the cathedral, the Palace of the Grand Duke and the Place d’Armes. In downtown Luxembourg you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Kirchberg district, home to several European institutions. In the valley, you will be able to see a trail of the Casemates, the abbey of Neumünster, the city walls and the picturesque sites along the river Alzette. After some free time in the city, you will explore the quaint town of Dinant, with its fifteenth century collegial church and its impressive citadel. Dinant’s name originates from the Celtic “Divo Nanto”, which means “Sacred Valley”. This little town is dramatically perched on the narrow banks of the River MeuseI. This is the cradle of the Leffe beer and the birth place of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone.

Depart Brussels in the morning and travel by bus to Luxembourg City. Pass the beautiful city of Dinant on the shores of river Meuse, a city well-known for its music, history and beer, where you will have some free time to enjoy the city on your own. Continue the trip to Luxembourg to discover Place d'Armes, founded by the Spanish in 1671, where you can soak up the lively ambiance of its typical restaurants and cafés. Venture down a famous passage to reach Luxembourg City Hall on Place Guillaume II, and then continue to the 17th-century Notre-Dame Cathedral in the heart of the Ville Haute. Explore the old town, the lookout in Chemin de la Corniche and experience the magical quartier of Grund. Get some free time to shop, eat and explore at your own pace before the bus trip back to Brussels.

Thanks to the route taken by the City Train, formerly known as the Petrusse Express, travelers aboard the city train depart from the old town to the historic centre of Luxembourg City. The 45-minute journey starts at the Montée de Clausen, more precisely at the Um Bock stop, and then heads towards the Grund area and Rives de Clausen, the Plateau du Rham and back to its starting point. The Rives de Clausen form a district of bars and restaurants, established on the site of the former Luxembourg beer brewery “Mousel”. Situated along the Alzette river, the Rives de Clausen appeal to a wide variety of tastes and attract a very cosmopolitan public, which is typical for Luxembourg. The Rives de Clausen are also part of a larger plan to enhance the suburbs of the former fortress. The Rham Plateau proudly overlooks three sides of the Alzette valley and offers a stunning view of the old city of Luxembourg. It has been an integral part of Luxembourg’s fortifications since the 15th century and was later expanded by Vauban with four imposing military barracks, currently used as modern and comfortable housing for seniors. You can make a stop for a few minutes while waiting for the next train.

Explore one of the largest and most beautiful feudal residences of the Romanesque and Gothic periods in Europe, Vianden Castle, with an optional audio guide. In 2019, this memorable castle made it on the list of the 21 most beautiful castles in the world. Upon arrival at the castle, set out on a journey to discover the fascinating history of the Counts of Vianden and House of Nassau, with their impressive links to the imperial court. Marvel at the architectural wonders inside the castle as you explore each wing with its own distinct history. See the chapel and the two manors, arguably the most remarkable parts of the castle. Then, step into the incredible Jülich building to the west of the Great Palace. Get to know the story behind the castle's ruin and its restoration. The old town in Echternach:  The city of Echternach, the historical and cultural center of the region, was founded in 698 by the Benedictine Monk Willibrord and is the oldest town in Luxembourg. Admire the most beautiful places and buildings, like the St. Willibrord Basilica, the Abbey, and the market square. After the visit to Echternach, you will return to your original starting point at Boulevard de la Pétrusse in Luxembourg City.

After picking up the bikes at our sightseeing.lu store, you will discover the most beautiful places of the capital in a single bike trip. Move around on our latest generation e-bikes to get from one place to another without getting too tired, because this tour doesn't include any hills... or almost none! Everything is done by elevator or by funicular. From the city center, you will be directly immersed in the green heart of the city, the Pétrusse Valley with its numerous possibilities to relax in a green area. From there you will be directed to the Grund where you will take the elevator to the Plateau du St. Esprit and the Judicial City - Cité Judiciaire. From here, you can ride along the Grand Ducal Palace to the historical center and its Herb Market. Continue to the Pfaffenthal until you reach the funicular that will take you to Kirchberg. You will get out at the foot of the European institutions. Even this imposing alley has its own little park, which you can cross by bike, and then discover the most important buildings of the Luxembourg financial center. Once you've passed through, you'll go back down to the Pfaffenthal to take the panoramic elevator to the gardens of the Pescatore Foundation. From there you will reach the city park and the Kinnekswiss, which announces the end of our e-bike tour through the capital.
