You will travel on Route (T–1) Lusaka – Livingstone; Zambia’s main tourist road (485.4 km) which forms the principal transport axis of Southern Province, the tourist hub region of Zambia. About 50 kms from Lusaka, you will reach a small road-side town of Kafue (its name is derived from the Kafue River, one of Zambia’s major rivers). This town has no major things of tourism interest worth a stop-over. However, you will cross over the Kafue Bridge heading south which is the second longest bridge in Zambia. Turn Pike junction: You will make your first stop at Turn Pike junction when you will turn and enter on the T-1 tourism route to Livingstone. Here you will take a short walk and interact with the locals. You will be given the opportunity to buy fresh bananas and apples. You then board the vehicle and continue on your exciting journey south wards. You will experience the true Zambian culture of this beautiful country along the way to Mazabuka. The vehicle will wind its way through beautiful landscape, passing through some green commercial farms, traditional African villages and schools along the way to Mazabuka. 10:30 am: Arrive in Mazabuka, dubbed “The Sweetest Town” in Zambia. It is a good tarmac road and you will cover a distance of about 128 kms before reaching Kalomo town. 10:00 am: Arrive in Kalomo town, the first colonial capital centre of the then Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia). Midmorning snack. You will then travel to the outskirts of Kalomo along the Dundumwezi road that heads to the Kafue National Park. There, you will visit and tour the first residence of the colonial administrator "state house" of Northern Rhodesia". You will also visit and tour the site of the first standard chartered bank of Northern Rhodesia. Along the way, you will stop-over at the Kalundu mound, an archaeological/prehistoric site. 13:20 pm: Arrive in Choma, the provincial capital city of southern province of Zambia: Visit and tour the Choma museum and craft centre around lunch time. Take your lunch. 16:30 pm: You will arrive in Monze, and spend a night at any good lodge. Day 2: Activities in Lochinvar National Park, bird-watching paradise of Zambia 07:00 am: Wake up from Monze town, bath and then take breakfast 07:30 am: You will be driven and enter the Lochinvar National Park through the main park gate: Our experienced Tour Guide will take you inside the Park to areas of huge bird concentration of bird species. Narration: Game viewing: The wildlife population in Lochinvar National is small due to induced human activities. However, you will not miss seeing the Kafue Lechwe, a rare lechwe subspecies. -Start by passing through Gwisho Hotsprings, -Then drive to Baobab tree and drums. Then drive to the nice Chunga Lagoon. Commence the exciting birdwatching and wilding activities on foot as guided by the tour guide. Lunch will be provided in-between activities. 16:30 pm: Start returning back to exit the Lochinvar Park through the main gate. 17:30 pm Pass through the Samu Lya Moomba national heritage site. 18:30 pm: Have a delicious diner 21:30 pm: Retire to bed at any good lodge in Monze. 05:30 am: Day 1: Lusaka - At your Lodge/Hotel You will be picked from your lodge/hotel in Lusaka as arranged by our reservation staff. After being picked, you will then travel to Chipata enroute to Mfuwe, the main anchor village outside the South Luangwa National Park. The road to be used is good tarmac of good standard of a distance of 796.2 Km kilometers. A professional tour guide will accompany you to explain anything of interest that you will see. Narration: The road travel experience from Lusaka to Chipata is an extremely adventurous and exciting one that shall remain embedded in your mind for a long time 14:40 am: Still Day 1: Arrive in Chipata After travelling close to 9 hours, you will take a short break in Chipata where you will eat lunch before proceeding to Mfuwe. It is a popular access point for the South Luangwa National Park. After an hours rest, you will proceed to Mfuwe a satellite village of South Luangwa National Park, covering a distance of about 120 kms. 16:30 am: Still Day 1: Arrive in Mfuwe - Accommodation South Luangwa National Park has a wide range of accommodation options. You can choose an incredible, remote tented camp with outdoor showers, open-air facilities, and up-close and personal game interactions. Or you might prefer a luxurious lodge with a deep bath tub, formal dining room, and exquisite plunge pools. Day 2: Do your activities in the South Luangwa National Park 06:30 am: You will take do all your activities at your own cost in South Luangwa National Park as per your arrangement with the respective lodge you will be staying at.
