The trip was beautiful, the boat ride was wonderful and Mount Burgenstock was amazing. The views went on forever and the hiking, gorgeous. My favorite part was hearing the cowbells echoing over the hills. The only thing that could be better, was a little bit more instruction as I almost got on the wrong boat.

Full description

Cross Lake Lucerne by ferry, and then climb aboard the funicular railway to journey to the top of Mount Bürgenstock. 

Get magnificent views as you make your way to the expansive Bürgenstock resort, where you can hike one of the walking trails and discover indoor and outdoor tennis courts and swimming pools. Play a round on the 9-hole golf course or board the vertical Hammetschwandlift elevator.

Avail of an exciting selection of international cuisine at up to 12 different bars and restaurants. Then, head back down the mountain on the funicular railway and cruise back to Lucerne by ferry.

  •  The combined ferry and funicular shuttle operates from 9:07 AM to 9:07 PM, with departures every 60 minutes
  • On Saturdays and Sundays the last connection from Bürgenstock to Lucerne operates at 10.35 PM
  • The Hammetschwand Lift as well as the Felsenweg (rock path) are closed during winter months.

I’d highly recommend this trip. We were fortunate to have a beautiful clear and sunny day. All aspects of the transport were unbelievably smooth and easy. Burgenstock itself is mind blowing, with views in one direction across rolling green pasture, pretty chalets and cow bells chiming throughout the day, mountains soaring beyond. On the other side are spectacular views back across the lake to Luzern. The walk up to the cliff-side glass lift is gently sloped and the mountain views from the top even more breathtaking.
