Highlighted reviews from other travelers
Overall it was great. The boat ride is very slow, but gives plenty of time to enjoy the view and take pictures. The cog train was really good with scenic views on the way up. The highlight is definitely the spectacular views at the top, and you can spend as much time there as you want. The views from the cable car going down was good too, but only if you get on early and secure a spot by the window. Otherwise, you're stuck in the middle and won't get to see much.
We enjoyed our trip to Rigi a lot. It was at our own pace. The train, cable and boat rides were not crowded and we were able to see beautiful views of Lucerne and Rigi. When we reached the summit of Rigi, there were heavy fogs making it difficult to see the spectacular sights of the mountains but we hang around for lunch, eventually the winds blew the fogs revealing the beautiful mountains. It was worth the wait.

Know before you go
- From 18 - 22 November and 25 to 29 November 2024 as well as from 10 March to 4 April 2025 and 17 to 28 November 2025 the cable car from Rigi Kaltbad to Weggis is not operating due to maintenance work. During this time the excursion to Rigi will be made via Vitznau for both the outbound and return journeys.
- As soon as there is snow on the Rigi, we recommend that travellers in wheelchairs travel via Vitznau. Passengers who are dependent on an electric wheelchair are also recommended to travel via Vitznau. Low-floor trains generally run from Vitznau, making it easy to get on and off the train.
