Having heard of the La Brea Tar Pits for many decades and having been in Los Angeles many times, I finally took time to go to the museum. This was a marvelous experience. I learned many things and enjoyed myself immensely. The staff was engaging and knowledgeable. I recommend this to everyone!

  • If you have an infant (0-2 years old), they will be given a ticket upon arrival
  • The opening times as follows: daily from 09:30 AM to 5:00 PM (check website for closed holidays)
  • There is a parking lot onsite for an additional fee
  • The Excavator Tour is free with General Admission. Make your timed reservation when you arrive. Space is limited and not guaranteed
  • By purchasing a ticket and visiting the museum, all guests agree to the COVID safety guidelines and protocols

Three adults and three under the age of ten and it was an excellent experience for us all. The staff was considerate and helpful, a nice group. Wish I had been better informed about my parking choices and the cost.
